It all started at a block party....
Every year Libby's block has a big, neighborhood block party, filled with food, music and fun. Libby's next door neighbors and Lyn's good friends Paula and Jeffrey, who had just moved in, wanted to do something special and decided to roast a pig. Jeffrey asked Libby to help.
At the last minute, they invited Lyn to the party.
Lyn was reluctant since it was a last minute invite but eventually decided to come .
At the block party, Lyn was having a great time, eating food, chatting it up and surprisingly taking a lot of pictures, when her best friend Sol said: "What do you think about that guy? He's single and cute." Lyn looked over and saw this guy with a sweet smile and decided to investigate.
Libby asked her, "Would you like some spanakopita that my Mom made?" She said, "No thank you. I am not doing gluten right now." This led to a flirty conversation that immediately felt natural and easy going. Lyn was even more curious to get to know him better. She slyly asked for his phone number so she could send photos from the party.
Libby was happy to give it because he was also interested in this smart, funny, cute lady.
They exchanged phone numbers and started texting back and forth during the week.
At one point, they were texting about movies and food and Libby courageously asked her if she wanted to go to dinner and a movie. He received no response whatsoever.
Confused and a bit disheartened, he thought he was put in the friend zone.
Lyn continued to text him about everything else except the dinner and movie invite.
The next day, Libby decided to give it one last chance.
He asked her again: "Have you considered my dinner and movie invite?' Lyn immediately replied: " What invite? I didn't receive any message. It must be my stupid Cricket service! Of course I want to go with you!" If not for Libby's persistence, you would not be reading this today. They decided on Saturday as their first date. Their first date lasted more than 8 hours. In the process, they closed out two restaurants and ended up at a 24 hour Starbucks so they could stay as long as they wanted.
More than 11 years later, they are still as lovestruck as their first date and are excited to make it official.
